Out of the previous three design solutions, this seems to be the most favorable. The inspiration behind the design comes straight from the sugar beet. Just like the root/the beet is the featured part, the labs are featured in my design. All circulation throughout the building occurs around the labs. They are sunk down one story into the ground and surrounded by glass so that passerbys can look down and see whats happening.

ReplyDeleteI love the idea of sinking the middle into the ground, like a burrowing taproot/sugarbeet. But I wonder how to leave that roof fenestration open but yet climate appropriate...3 seasonal porch-cirle?
ReplyDeleteright now, i pictured 3 separate labs in the "hole" each with its own roof structure. There will also be enough space to walk around the labs which will technically be outdoors even though there are walls on all sides.
